Our Story

Seeds were planted on Saturdays, ledger books open, scribbles everywhere, and morning light spilling through the windows of their mother’s small business. Their father sat beside them, teaching valuable financial skills and steadfast support. Their mother sparked a courageous entrepreneurial spirit, modeling creativity and confidence in an era when women-owned businesses were still rare.

As they grew, their father continued nurturing their financial understanding; teaching personal budgeting, showing them how to file taxes for their high school jobs, and helping them reconcile their bank account to the penny by hand! Coming from a family that uses logic to inspire creativity, both Christin and Cheryl chose to pursue mathematics degrees.

Christin’s financial journey began with QuickBooks during her time at a small business, where she wore many hats: client technical trainer, bookkeeper, accountant, and catch-all administrator. She worked in several other financial ventures, including a mortgage loan underwriter and operations manager. Her first entrepreneurial adventure was owning a hair salon and spa that specialized in curly hair. Because she wasn’t a stylist, she used her strengths on the financial and managerial side of business operations. By the time she sold the salon, she had become a trusted advisor for other stylists and fellow entrepreneurs. Starting an accounting firm became the natural next step. When the time came to expand, Christin partnered with one of the people who had grown alongside her from the beginning: her sister.

Cheryl’s first client was her college boyfriend, now her loving husband. He had never reconciled his bank account, and Cheryl graciously walked him through it, equipping him to do it himself. Coming full circle, she stepped into a role at her mother’s company when the former accountant retired. She managed the books, ran payroll, and filed sales tax until her mother sold the business. Cheryl stayed on for a time, becoming a cog in the more corporate wheel, before branching out into new ventures in hospitality, education, and children’s ministry. But with a passion to equip and serve others, she returned to accounting when she moved back to Minnesota and her sister reached out.

C Squared’s foundation is family. Christin and Cheryl have grown their business through the same kind of support they now strive to offer other organizations. As life-long learners, they believe in growing with purpose and in equipping others to do the same. They know what it’s like to have a passion, a family to care for, and dream to see their business thrive. And they want that for every client: an organization rooted in wisdom, ready to grow with care.
